On today’s show we get into what constitutes adulteration, how this happens and the different ways suppliers can adulterate herbal supplements. We talk about standardized extracts and how this can be used to artificially bolster the perceived efficacy of a product; as well as how some herbs lend themselves well to isolating the medicinal compounds. We discuss peer reviewed, scientific validation for herbal efficacy and dive into the nitty gritty when it comes to methods of testing and verifying herbal supplements.

Lastly, we talk about the most common herbs that are adulterated, dry-labbing and falsification of labels
